I used to be in charge of our coffee service for our department in addition to regular work responsibilities; I don't remember how I was given such an honor. It made a small profit and once a week I would pick up donuts and put them out by the coffee pots.
I decided maybe we should have some variety and switch things up with bagels every third or fourth time. When I studied bagel shop locations on the way between my home and work I found Elaine's Bagels. The bagels and cream cheese were excellent quality and taste, reasonably priced, right on my way to work, and people were friendly. So that became a regular thing for years.
After I retired, I no longer go past Elaine's so it is a rare occasion when I do see them. But everything still seems to be continuing they way they always were; great food, reasonable prices and good people! Check them out! -

I've given this place many chances and it's just never satisfied me. The bagels with cream cheese aren't bad, but the sandwiches are definitely lacking. The variety of bagels and cream cheese are also smaller compared to other bagel shops. If you want just your average run of the mill flavor bagel with cream cheese and nothing fancy, this place will suffice.

Get here early to get the salt sticks... sorry every Metro Detroit fan of salt sticks - I bought them out this Sunday morning. Early bird gets the stick! -

Best bagels around! Fresh fluffy and delicious! Such a great selection to choose from. You can even eat breakfast or lunch here. Would definitely recommend this place!

I like bagels from Elaine's. My fave is the all star, followed by the cinnamon sugar. Happy to support independent places versus chain restaurants, and once you taste these bagels I'm betting you will agree.
